Engineer Found Dead in Car Due to Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Jalan sungai dua: A man who was found dead inside a car parked in front of an ice cream shop along Jalan Sungai Dua here yesterday was a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning. Timur Laut District Deputy Police Chief Supt Lee Swee Sake stated that the cause of death of the 37-year-old engineer was determined following a post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Department of Hospital Pulau Pinang here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the post-mortem revealed that the victim succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning, and there were no elements of foul play involved in the incident. The case has been classified as a sudden death, with a Sudden Death Report opened for further investigation. It is believed that the victim passed away approximately five days prior to the discovery of his body yesterday.

The victim, who hailed from Ayer Itam, was found neatly dressed and positioned in the driver's seat of his wife's car. The vehicle was locked from the inside when the body was discovered at 11.47 am. It is understood that the victim may have fallen asleep in his car without switching off the vehicle's engine, leading to the tragic incident.
