Encore Melaka Chosen as Proposed Venue for 2025 World Tourism Day Celebration

Melaka: Encore Melaka, situated in Impression City, Kota Syahbandar, has emerged as a proposed venue for the 2025 World Tourism Day (WTD) celebration, slated for September.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman, Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, highlighted that the venue’s strategic location along the Straits of Melaka makes it a unique tourism spot, with potential to draw both domestic and international visitors. Encore Melaka is recognized not just as a theatre with a 360-degree rotating stage, but also as a hub for arts and cultural performances.

Abdul Razak noted that several venues have been proposed, including sites in the Banda Hilir area, and Encore Melaka, which have been submitted to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for consideration. The coastal location of Encore Melaka could showcase the Straits of Melaka during the celebration, enhancing its appeal as a distinctive tourism product with a capacity to attract international visitors.

He made these remarks after launching the People’s Representative for the People (WRUR) programme in the Duyong state constituency, attended by Duyong assemblyman and deputy chairman of the state Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communications Committee, Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem.

Abdul Razak further shared that plans are underway to prepare an array of engaging programmes for WTD 2025, aligning with Melaka’s selection as the launch venue for Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Scheduled programmes include religious events coinciding with the Maulidur Rasul celebration, part of the Islamic Tourism cluster. Further details on these programmes will be disclosed soon.

Earlier, Abdul Razak emphasized that the WRUR initiative, now in its sixth location, is aimed at addressing public concerns and enhancing service delivery to local residents, rather than serving as a political platform. The initiative in Duyong state constituency will feature 166 programmes across clusters like sports, community engagement, health, and religion, running until July 26.
