Electrocution Incident Prompts Call for School Safety Inspections

Daro: The incident where a student was electrocuted to death and another injured in a school in Daro should spur safety inspections in other schools, especially those with wooden buildings that are more prone to such risks.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Daro state assemblyman Dr. Safiee Ahmad emphasized the need for thorough examinations of electrical wiring systems in schools, highlighting that older buildings may require complete renovations. He pointed out the potential hazards of additional wiring installed without adhering to proper specifications or procedures, often carried out by uncertified parties.

Dr. Safiee issued a statement expressing concern over the recent electrocution death of 16-year-old Fahrin Jumarudy Abdullah and the injuries sustained by another 15-year-old student at a secondary school in Daro. He underscored that safety considerations should not be viewed solely in terms of cost, but must prioritize the well-being of students.

Furthermore, Dr. Safiee highlighted the importance of promoting electrical safety awareness among students, particularly those residing in dormitories, to prevent future incidents.
