Elderly Man Held In Klang Hit-and-run Case

Klang: Police detained a 75-year-old man believed to be linked to a hit-and-run incident involving three pedestrians at Jalan Pekan Baru, Bandar Baru Klang, on Friday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, North Klang police chief ACP S Vijaya Rao stated that the man was arrested at about 11.40 am yesterday. The arrest followed information received from the public concerning the incident, which resulted in two fatalities and left another individual seriously injured.

The suspect is currently being detained and will be remanded for further investigation. Checks conducted revealed that the elderly man has no prior criminal or narcotics record, Vijaya said in a statement today.

Vijaya also encouraged anyone with information related to the case to reach out to the nearest police station or contact the traffic investigating officer, Insp Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah, at 017-5843860.

The previous day, Vijaya reported that two sisters lost their lives while a 17-year-old was injured when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with the three pedestrians in the suspected hit-and-run incident on May 15. The deceased were locals aged 57 and 62, with the injured teenager being the child of one of the victims.
