Eight Men Detained Over Fight At Tawau Ramadan Bazaar

Tawau: Eight men, including a foreign national, were detained over a fight at the Sabindo Ramadan Bazaar yesterday, police said. Tawau district police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin stated that the individuals, aged 17 to 34, were arrested at various locations after a report was made about the incident at 8.37 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a motorcycle chain suspected of being used in the altercation was also confiscated. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fight originated from a disagreement between two groups, though further investigations are ongoing. The men will be held in custody to assist with investigations under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.

Two videos of the altercation, lasting 17 and 20 seconds, circulated widely yesterday, prompting criticism from the public. Many netizens expressed concern over such incidents occurring in family-friendly areas, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
