Hanoi:First paragraph of the news story.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the effectiveness of Budget 2027's implementation is contingent upon the prompt disbursement of aid and the coordination between federal, state, and local governments to alleviate bureaucratic challenges for businesses.

Dr. Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid, chief economist at Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd, emphasized that bureaucratic red tape remains a risk as aid distribution involves numerous ministries and agencies at various government levels. He noted the need for an ecosystem that facilitates smoother business operations.

He mentioned that government machinery at all levels must demonstrate empathy towards the business sector, which faces challenges such as increasing raw material, labor, and compliance costs. Addressing these hidden costs is crucial for business performance.

Dr. Mohd Afzanizam highlighted the necessity for governments to exhibit good coordination to enhance business operations and competitiveness. He described Budget 2027 as pragmatic, acknowledging the difficulties faced by citizens and businesses through assistance measures and tax reductions.

The government aims to maintain fiscal discipline by targeting a fiscal deficit reduction to 3.3% of GDP in 2027 from 3.6% in 2026. The federal government has allocated RM459 billion for 2027, an increase from RM444 billion in 2026, reflecting a balanced approach to addressing household and business issues while managing finances.
