Education Minister and YGTHO Contribute RM10,000 for Teenager’s Scoliosis Surgery

Kuala lumpur: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and the Tun Hussein Onn Teachers' Foundation (YGTHO) have contributed RM10,000 to cover the cost of scoliosis surgery for 13-year-old Arissa El Zahra Reduan, which is scheduled to be performed at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) on September 8.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina announced in a Facebook post today that she and YGTHO had settled the surgery costs for Arissa. She expressed her emotional response, highlighting the eagerness of the young girl to continue her education. Fadhlina thanked media friends for facilitating communication between the community and her team.

Earlier, Fadhlina shared a video of her video call with Arissa and her mother to deliver the good news. She assured Arissa that they would provide the necessary RM10,000 support to ease the surgery process, encouraging her to focus on recovery and returning to school.

Fadhlina added that her team is organizing the logistics to ensure Arissa receives optimal treatment. She expressed hopes for a smooth surgery and a full recovery for Arissa, urging the family to remain strong and keep praying.

Yesterday, it was reported that Arissa's father, Reduan Saad, had appealed for RM10,000 to cover his daughter's surgery costs. The surgery is set to take place at HRPB on September 8.
