Kuala lumpur: Education, economic opportunities, welfare, and socioeconomic development were the central topics of discussion during a meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indian community leaders.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan highlighted that the second session of the meeting brought together leaders from nine chambers of commerce and 14 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to discuss community perspectives, including inputs for Budget 2027. The meeting was an effort by the government to directly listen to and understand the views, aspirations, and challenges faced by the Indian community.

Ramanan emphasized that the Prime Minister personally heard every view, concern, and suggestion. This approach aims to ensure that the policies and initiatives being developed truly reflect the ground realities and community needs. He shared these insights in a Facebook post.

Ramanan also noted that the meeting was open, honest, and constructive, marking the beginning of a continuous engagement process rather than the end. He assured that appropriate attention and follow-up would be given to the matters raised, with the aim of delivering tangible benefits for the community.

Appreciating the presence of community leaders, Ramanan acknowledged their role in representing their respective organisations and reflecting the broader aspirations, needs, and hopes of the Indian community. He reiterated the government's commitment to moving forward with the people by listening, understanding, and implementing the development agenda.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) director-general N. Raveendran Nair were also present at the meeting.
