Kuala lumpur: The Negeri Sembilan branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is actively promoting the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS) application. This initiative aims to enhance consumers’ understanding of its usage when purchasing subsidised cooking oil across the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, S. Veerapan, State Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Climate Change, Cooperatives and Consumerism Committee chairman, stated that eCOSS was developed to systematically monitor the purchase of subsidised cooking oil and curb subsidy leakages. He emphasized that eCOSS registration ensures only Malaysians can purchase the subsidised cooking oil, with a limit of three packets per day.
Veerapan highlighted the importance of public understanding regarding eCOSS, noting its role in targeting subsidies to the intended recipients. The system prevents foreigners from accessing subsidised cooking oil, ensuring transparency and allowing both state and federal governments to monitor distribution effectively. He made these remarks while conducting a check at a supermarket in Senawang.
For those without the application, a manual logbook is available at shops or supermarkets to facilitate purchases. Traders are encouraged to have staff assist users in registering for eCOSS, particularly those unfamiliar with the system.
Local consumers have responded positively to the initiative. Chong Kwee Wing, a housewife, recounted her experience learning about eCOSS from a supermarket employee, who helped her download and understand the application. Similarly, Ruslina Amat, another housewife, described her experience with the app as beneficial for preventing misuse and excessive purchases, having downloaded it a week prior.
