Econsave, MyCARE Implement Education, Psychology Programme For Students In Gaza

Gaza: Econsave Cash and Carry Sdn Bhd (Econsave) in collaboration with Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) conducted an education and psychological rehabilitation programme that benefited more than 300 students in Gaza, Palestine. Econsave general manager Mas Imran Adam stated that the programme was executed in a building functioning as a temporary school near the Jabalia refugee camp, located in the north of Gaza.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project commenced in September of the previous year and incurred a cost of RM65,000. This amount was sourced from the Gaza emergency fund, launched by Econsave in October 2023, which amassed a total of RM2 million. The initiative includes educational and psychological components aimed at preventing students in Gaza from lagging in their studies due to the ongoing conflict. Additionally, the programme seeks to bolster their spirits in the aftermath of losing family and relatives.

Mas Imran highlighted that Econsave and MyCARE also addressed the need for clean water in Gaza through a solar energy project initiated in July of the previous year, costing RM50,000. This project successfully provides approximately 8,000 litres of clean water daily, benefiting over 4,000 residents. The water distribution reaches camps and schools serving as temporary shelters.

In another gesture of support, Mas Imran mentioned that 30 underprivileged families received Econsave vouchers worth RM200 each, in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
