Economy Ministry Reviews Nearly 10,000 Project Proposals for 2027

Kuala Lumpur:The Economy Ministry has received 9,955 proposals for new and extension projects, amounting to RM944 billion, set for 2027.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry outlined RM80.4 billion as the required development expenditure ceiling for 2027, which will be considered under the development planning process.

These proposals are part of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) for 2026-2030. Ministries and agencies can submit their development programme and project proposals for the Economy Ministry's consideration through the rolling plan process. This information was shared in a written reply published on the Malaysian parliament website.

The ministry was addressing a query from Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Anak Brodi (GPS-Sri Aman) regarding the procedure to ensure that every development project announcement includes clear allocations, timelines, targets, and responsible agencies. The ministry highlighted that engagement sessions with ministries, state governments, and relevant agencies are held to prioritize projects based on their needs, implementation capacity, and stipulated timelines.

The objective is to ensure that approved projects are carried out efficiently, fully utilized within the year, and completed on schedule, benefiting the population, state development, and local communities. Furthermore, the 13MP aims for zero development projects to remain unstarted two years after approval, by 2030.
