Economy Ministry Finalising JS-SEZ Masterplan, Investment Blueprint

Johor bahru: The Ministry of Economy is finalising the master plan and investment blueprint for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which is expected to be launched on March 30 in Johor Bahru. Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the action plan will serve as a public reference, and the more detailed master plan will guide all implementing parties in developing the special economic zone.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Akmal Nasrullah mentioned that the blueprint and the master plan are being completed at the Ministry of Economy. The blueprint will be available for public reference, while the master plan will be used by implementing parties. This announcement was made after the minister launched MyRMK, an integrated monitoring system designed to ensure the comprehensive implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13).

Akmal Nasrullah highlighted the significance of the investment blueprint launch, which outlines the development direction of the JS-SEZ, including investment strategy, economic cooperation, and project implementation in the area. The government has decided to unveil the blueprint on March 30 in Johor Bahru to bolster economic ties between Malaysia and Singapore, thereby stimulating economic growth in the southern region of the country.

The minister added that the Johor state government is anticipated to participate in the launch event, with attendance from Singaporean ministers as well. The JS-SEZ represents a strategic cooperation initiative between Malaysia and Singapore, focusing on strengthening economic integration, attracting new investments, and stimulating economic growth in the southern region.

The JS-SEZ aims to transform Johor's economic landscape, targeting a gross domestic product of RM260 billion by 2030. Additionally, the economic zone seeks to transition toward a more advanced, innovation-driven economy, with plans to create over 20,000 high-skilled jobs.
