ECERDC Facilitates RM1.12 Billion Investments in Kelantan’s Economic Growth

Kota bharu: The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) has continued to strengthen Kelantan’s economic growth, realising investments totalling RM1.12 billion as of end-September 2025, with the manufacturing sector remaining the main driver of the state’s economy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, ECERDC announced committed investments worth RM736 million in the agriculture, services, and industrial sectors, expected to create over 1,300 new job opportunities once fully realised. A key focus remains the Palekbang-Kota Bharu Bridge project, aimed at enhancing road connectivity between Kota Bharu and Tumpat, easing city centre congestion, and opening new investment corridors in northern Kelantan.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud highlighted the importance of collaboration between the state government and ECERDC in developing long-term plans and driving regional development. He stated that strategic partnerships will support high-impact projects, strengthen key economic sectors, and improve living standards in Kelantan.

Datuk Baidzawi Che Mat, ECERDC chief executive officer, noted that Kelantan’s development momentum reflects strong investor and stakeholder confidence. Major infrastructure projects like the Palekbang-Kota Bharu Bridge, currently 22 percent complete, and federal transport links such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), are expected to attract new investments and drive growth in industrial and tourism sectors.

ECERDC’s commitment to working with state and federal agencies is aimed at delivering comprehensive and sustainable benefits to Kelantan’s communities.
