Nagoya:Ng Eain Yow has dedicated his men's singles squash gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games to his mother, who is battling leukaemia. Eain Yow, 28, expressed that his mother's two-year battle with the disease has been a significant source of strength for him on the court.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Eain Yow's victory at the Asiad holds special significance, especially as he successfully defended the gold medal he won at the 2022 edition in Hangzhou, China. He emphasized that this achievement is deeply meaningful due to his mother's ongoing health struggles.

Eain Yow also highlighted that the gold medal, which secured his qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games (LA28), is not only a personal triumph but also a tribute to past players who paved the way for the current generation. He expressed gratitude towards his seniors and their contributions to the sport.

With the Olympic qualification secured, Eain Yow is not resting on his laurels. He aspires to become the world's best player and aims to use the time leading up to LA28 to achieve this ambition. Winning the current tournament and securing an Olympic spot is just the beginning, as he targets further success.

In the men's singles squash final at the Nagoya Kinjofuto Arena, Eain Yow defeated India's Abhay Singh 11-9, 11-5, 11-5, becoming the first Malaysian athlete to secure a ticket to LA28. Additionally, national squash queen S. Sivasangari secured her LA28 berth by winning the women's singles gold medal, defeating India's Anahat Singh.
