DSN Action Plan 2026-2030 Unveiled to Enhance National Social Well-being

Kuala lumpur: The government today launched the National Social Policy (DSN) Action Plan 2026-2030, featuring 102 initiatives focused on prevention, empowerment, promotion, and protection to strengthen social well-being and improve support for vulnerable groups nationwide. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the action plan as a more structured framework to realize the goals of DSN 2030, which was launched earlier.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid stated that the action plan must bridge government policies and the realities faced by the people to ensure assistance and interventions truly reach those in need. He highlighted that the action plan aims to prevent aid duplication, avoid information gaps, ensure vulnerable groups are not left behind, and guarantee that every intervention reaches the intended recipients.

Ahmad Zahid pointed out the increasing complexity of social challenges as they intersect with economic pressures, while digital advancements introduce new risks such as online scams, child exploitation, and the spread of harmful content. He emphasized the need for the action plan to focus on three key shifts: from assistance to self-reliance, from siloed efforts to a unified ecosystem, and from reactive measures to prevention.

He further explained that while assistance remains crucial, especially for those in need, the ultimate aim of social policy is to uplift individuals so they can become self-reliant, contribute to society, and build a better future for their families. Ahmad Zahid underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation among ministries, state governments, local authorities, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academia, and communities, as social issues cannot be addressed in isolation.

Each initiative under the action plan will have clearly defined ownership, measurable key performance indicators (KPIs), implementation timelines, and regular monitoring through the National Social Council. Ahmad Zahid stressed the necessity of proactive social policy to prevent family collapse, child dropout, elderly neglect, and youth disorientation.

Led by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM), DSN 2030 serves as a comprehensive framework to shape an inclusive, progressive, and resilient Malaysian society. The policy aims to improve public well-being, address social challenges, and safeguard the rights and quality of life of every individual in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations.
