Kuala lumpur: New Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said he intends to continue strengthening the initiatives put in place by his predecessor. He described the efforts and plans carried out by the previous leadership as solid initiatives that have had a great impact on the country’s sports and youth development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, former Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and her deputy, Adam Adli Abd Halim, implemented initiatives that Dr Mohammed Taufiq and his deputy, Mordi Bimol, plan to continue. With the assistance and support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) secretary-general Datuk Dr Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Dr Mohammed Taufiq expressed confidence in jointly developing KBS.
He made these remarks after officially starting his duties by clocking in at Menara KBS. Dr Mohammed Taufiq hopes for collaboration across ministries and relevant agencies to strengthen the youth and sports agenda, particularly to build a sustainable MADANI Malaysia. He mentioned that after receiving briefings from the secretary-general and department heads, he would announce more detailed initiatives.
Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister, announced Dr Mohammed Taufiq’s appointment as part of the MADANI Government’s Cabinet reshuffle to fill several vacant positions. The KBS expressed appreciation for Hannah Yeoh, who was appointed on Dec 3, 2022, and Adam Adli, appointed on Dec 10, 2022, for their contributions to national youth policies and high-performance sports development.
The KBS affirmed its commitment to cooperating professionally with the new leadership to advance the national youth and sports development agenda, in line with the aspirations of the MADANI government.
