DPMs Extend Ramadan Greetings, Emphasize Importance of Reducing Food Waste

Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof have extended Ramadan greetings to all Muslims nationwide, who will begin fasting tomorrow. In a Facebook message, Ahmad Zahid highlighted Ramadan as a month filled with blessings and mercy, offering an opportunity to strengthen bonds of love and brotherhood.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed his hopes for Ramadan to serve as a platform for increasing good deeds and fostering compassion towards one another, aiming to create a more harmonious and prosperous society.

Fadillah, in a separate Facebook post, encouraged Muslims to focus on acts of worship and charitable acts while minimizing food wastage in line with the spirit of Ramadan. He emphasized that wasting food diminishes the blessings of Ramadan and what is discarded could be given to others, yielding rewards and benefits.

Fadillah urged the public to practice moderation in spending and contribute to those less fortunate. He advised reducing wastage, buying according to necessity, and increasing distribution or donations as part of the ‘zero waste’ effort.
