Kuching: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will brief Members of Parliament from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) on current national issues, following a recent closed-door meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs. Fadillah emphasized the importance of these briefings to ensure that all MPs in the Unity Government are well-informed on matters discussed in the Cabinet.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah stated that engaging with GPS MPs would be manageable due to their smaller number, allowing for direct communication. He noted that the issues were discussed in the Cabinet, providing clarity on what needs to be addressed. Fadillah explained that if the Prime Minister were to meet all MPs individually, time constraints would become a factor, hence his role in facilitating briefings for GPS and GRS MPs.
Fadillah was responding to queries about the involvement of GPS MPs in the Prime Minister’s recent meeting at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, which reportedly covered current issues, including the upcoming Parliamentary sitting. He assured that a full briefing session for GPS and GRS MPs would be organized soon.
He further mentioned that a retreat involving all Unity Government MPs, including ministers and deputy ministers, is scheduled for next week. This retreat will serve as a platform for providing further explanations on various issues. Additionally, Fadillah confirmed plans to travel to Sabah for a meeting of the Technical Committee under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (JKMTPMA63), clarifying that it does not involve any political agenda.
