Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi congratulated all SPM 2024 candidates for their proud achievements, including the increase in the number of excellent students and the best National Grade Point Average (GPK) since 2013.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, expressed his pride in the achievements of 7,650 SPM candidates from all 55 MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM). The average grade (GP) of SPM candidates from MRSM improved to 1.892 compared to 2.392 last year.
Ahmad Zahid noted that this result reflects the dedication of students who have worked hard to achieve excellent results, supported by parents and educators. The 2024 SPM examination results recorded the best performance since 2013, with a National Grade Point Average (GPK) index of 4.49 points compared to 4.60 points in 2023. The analysis showed an increase in the number of candidates who obtained excellent results, with 14,179 students achieving Grades A+, A, and A- in all subjects, compared to 11,713 candidates in 2023.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that 10 MRSMs recorded excellent performance with a GP below 1.50 this year, compared to only one MRSM last year. Additionally, 31 MRSMs recorded achievements with GP below 2.00, compared to nine MRSMs last year. A total of 1,670 out of 7,650 MRSM students, or 21.83 per cent, obtained all A grades, showing an increase from 1,131 students in SPM 2023.
In 2023, 50 MRSM candidates obtained all A+ results, whereas this year, the number increased to 69 students, with eight candidates obtaining 10A+ and 61 candidates obtaining 9A+. Of the 55 MRSM nationwide, 54 recorded an increase in GP. MRSM Beseri and MRSM Balik Pulau showed the highest increase in GP with jumps of 1.408 and 1.171 respectively.
