DOSH Conducted Three Construction Site Operations From Feb-Nov.

PUTRAJAYA: The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) conducted three construction site operations (OTP) at 475 construction sites nationwide from February to November, this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a total of 498 instruction letters; 416 prohibition notices; 187 notices on upgrades; 102 confiscation notices; 103 proposed compounds; and nine proposed prosecutions were issued during these operations. The first OTP, themed ‘Tapak Bina Selamat, Tiada Jatuh Lagi’, took place from February 27 to March 6 at 133 construction sites, focusing on work activities at high places and lifting work.

The second OTP, conducted from September 2 to 13, was carried out at 192 construction sites nationwide under the theme ‘Double SPARK’. This operation concentrated on the Legislative Dissemination of Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022, aiming to evaluate the understanding and compliance of industry players and employers with the Act, which came into effect on June 1.

The third OTP,
themed ‘Tiada Jatuh, Pekerja Selamat’, was held from November 25 to 29. It focused on general knowledge of the Regulations (Construction Work) (Design and Management) 2024, working in high places, and lifting works across 150 sites.

The statement noted that the OTPs were conducted to raise awareness among employers and workers about the importance of maintaining safety and health at work. DOSH reported receiving 1,144 reports of workers falling from high places last year.
