He stressed that any attempt to remove or depose a Ruler was a serious matter in a country governed by a constitutional monarchy system.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the constitutional monarchy, highlighting that Malays, in particular, must set a good example. He called for the preservation of harmony, reminding citizens of the country's roots in Malay traditions and its Malay majority. Anwar made these remarks to reporters after Friday prayers at Surau Nur Perdana in Precinct 10.
Yesterday, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) stated that the April 19 proclamation concerning the position of Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir was invalid due to non-compliance with the mandatory requirements of Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan (UUTKNS) 1959. The AGC clarified that the Menteri Besar and the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council did not possess unilateral authority to depose the Yang Dipertuan Besar or declare the position vacant.
Anwar mentioned that he had reviewed the AGC's complete statement regarding the issue. He expressed respect for the laws and customs governing Negeri Sembilan's unique system of the Yang Dipertuan Besar and the Undang, while emphasizing that all stipulated rules and procedures must be fully observed. He assured that the position of the Yang Dipertuan Besar remains secure and expressed his hope that Tuanku Muhriz would continue to reign effectively. Anwar also mentioned that any proposals from the Undang or others must adhere to proper procedures, beyond which there would be no interference.
