Melaka: Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI), through its subsidiary DMDI Ventures, has launched its first electrical goods store featuring the Selamat brand. This new venture marks a significant step in strengthening the supply chain for 100 percent locally branded electrical hardware, which is gaining traction both domestically and internationally.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, DMDI Ventures manager Datuk Norsabrina Mohd Noor highlighted the strategic partnership with May Quality Industries, a Muar, Johor-based electrical goods manufacturer established in 1999. The partnership underscores the quality of products, which have already been exported to countries like the United States and Saudi Arabia. Norsabrina emphasized the compliance of each product with the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) standards during the opening ceremony officiated by the Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, who also serves as DMDI president.
The store offers over 260 different electrical products, including electrical supplies such as cables, sockets, fuses, and industrial hardware, as well as household appliances like fans, electric kettles, and rice cookers. With competitive pricing, the outlet is positioned to become a supply center for contractors, maintenance companies, electrical consulting firms, small and medium enterprises, government agencies, and state government subsidiaries.
Norsabrina outlined plans to expand the product range based on industry needs, including items like audio equipment, televisions, and air conditioners. She also mentioned future plans to open more branches, which are expected to create job opportunities for local youths and contribute to Melaka’s economic ecosystem by increasing retail demand and supporting trade between contractors and local manufacturers.
