DKU Secretary To File Contempt Proceedings Over Alleged Injunction Breach

Negeri sembilan: Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) secretary Raja Norazli Raja Nordin announced his intention to initiate contempt of court proceedings against individuals involved in the appointment of the Yang Dipertuan Besar, following an alleged breach of an interim injunction granted by the High Court in Negeri Sembilan today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Raja Norazli stated that High Court judge Roz Mawar Rozain had issued the interim injunction in an originating summons to maintain the status quo of the DKU and his role as secretary. This injunction is in place pending the resolution of jurisdictional and justiciability issues and until further orders from the court.

Raja Norazli highlighted that media reports pointed to the involvement of the plaintiffs, particularly the second plaintiff, Undang Luak Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, in the alleged appointment of a Yang Dipertuan Besar under Article 11 of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959. This appointment reportedly occurred after the High Court had issued the interim injunction earlier that day.

Expressing his concerns, Raja Norazli criticized the actions of the plaintiffs, especially Maarof, as a rushed effort to flout the court order. 'Accordingly, my solicitors have written to the plaintiffs' solicitors, and I have reserved my right to commence contempt proceedings against the plaintiffs in order to preserve the integrity of the court order,' he stated in a declaration made tonight.

He further mentioned that this action would be supplementary to contempt proceedings already filed against the plaintiffs for activities allegedly conducted from the first hearing at the High Court on May 13 up to the present day. The contempt proceedings are set to be heard on July 7.

Earlier, the High Court had approved an application for an interim injunction against six plaintiffs involved in a dispute with the Negeri Sembilan DKU. This injunction included prohibiting them from convening or holding any meetings, including a Special Sitting scheduled for today. The six plaintiffs named are former Undang Luak Sungai Ujong Datuk Mubarak Thahak, Undang Luak Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang Luak Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah, Undang Luak Rembau Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin, Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri, and Shahbandar Sungai Ujong Datuk Seri Badarudin Abdul Khalid.
