Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Digital is committed to building an ecosystem to support the country’s efforts moving towards becoming an artificial intelligence (AI) Nation by 2030. Its minister, Gobind Singh Deo, said the ministry has taken concrete steps by utilising infrastructure and adopting technology to ensure the country’s readiness in developing an AI nation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind Singh Deo emphasized the commitment to building an ecosystem that supports AI. He noted that many industries are already operating using AI solutions and anticipated that these solutions would develop and be adopted more rapidly over time. This announcement was made during the launch of the SmartGov Malaysia Summit 2025 and the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025.
Gobind also highlighted expectations for increased investments in the digital economy, aiming to achieve a 25.5 per cent gross domestic product (GDP) contribution by 2025. He expressed confidence in hitting the target, indicating that although there is significant work ahead for the ministry, there is a strong commitment to achieving these goals.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC) noted that the MDX Summit 2025, held alongside the SmartGOV Malaysia Summit 2025, showcased the government’s digital transformation efforts. The summit demonstrated Malaysia’s capacity to leverage its nationwide 5G network and the broader Malaysia Digital ecosystem, highlighting the nation’s focus on inclusivity, resilience, and sustainability in the digital economy.
MDEC chief executive officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil remarked that the MDX Summit 2025 serves as a platform for action, connecting global innovators, local talent, investors, and policymakers to propel Malaysia’s digital economy forward. With initiatives like SmartGOV Malaysia and the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025, Malaysia aims to strengthen its position as ASEAN’s trusted digital hub, poised to drive a trillion-dollar future.
