Kuala lumpur: The Digital Ministry has submitted several proposals to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for Budget 2027, including incentives to encourage small businesses to adopt technology. Minister Gobind Singh Deo emphasized that these measures aim to ensure that government-developed technology is not only available but also widely adopted to deliver tangible benefits to businesses and those who need it.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind stated, "We have an engagement process where each ministry submits its proposals to the MOF. My ministry met with Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan two weeks ago, and I presented our proposals for Budget 2027 for consideration," he told reporters after officiating the Scars of War - An International Photography and Art Exhibition at the Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery here today.

The Dewan Rakyat calendar indicates that Budget 2027, themed 'Malaysia Madani: Menggapai Di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi', is expected to be tabled by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9.

Gobind mentioned that the government is considering incentives to assist small businesses in adopting technology by reducing the cost of essential equipment and digital applications. He stressed that the focus is not solely on making technology available but also on ensuring that it is adopted and delivers tangible benefits to the intended users.

He posed a crucial question: "How can we ensure that technology designed to help small businesses is not only available, but actually used? We need to encourage people to adopt these technologies." Further, he suggested that the government should consider incentives to lower the cost of tools and other related requirements to ensure technology adoption has a meaningful impact on small businesses and those who need it.

Gobind refrained from disclosing details of the proposals, entrusting the decision to the MOF before the Prime Minister announces them during or ahead of the Budget 2027 tabling.
