Digital Ministry Identifies Six Key Areas for Digital Transformation

Kuala lumpur: The Digital Ministry is focusing on six impactful areas to accelerate digital transformation and drive the national digital agenda in the first half of this year (1H 2026). Its minister, Gobind Singh Deo, stated that the six key areas are healthcare, transport, agriculture, digitalisation of small and medium enterprises (SME), enforcement, and government services.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind emphasized the importance of empowering individuals in these sectors to understand, access, and adopt existing technology. He made these remarks during the launch of Menara Merdeka 118 as the nation's first MD Nexus. Gobind also highlighted the necessity for the government to bridge the gap in new technology to create real, tangible impacts for the people.

Gobind reiterated the focus on these six areas to ensure meaningful benefits for society. The MD Nexus recognition, part of the MD Location Recognition initiative by the Digital Ministry and led by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), acknowledges premier business premises designed to support digital businesses, services, and innovation.

"As Malaysia's first MD Nexus, Merdeka 118 symbolizes the progress of integrating technology into the economy and society," Gobind added. He noted that the launch signifies a shift from policy to tangible action in the national digitalisation agenda.
