KUALA LUMPUR: The Digital Ministry is in discussions with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Developments (KUSKOP) to formulate a policy aimed at helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digitalisation in their businesses. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo revealed that discussions had been held with KUSKOP and relevant stakeholders two weeks ago.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind Singh Deo explained that MSMEs fall under the jurisdiction of KUSKOP, and the discussions focus on ensuring these enterprises can integrate technology into their operations. He emphasized the need to create an environment that offers cost-effective solutions for these businesses to embrace digitalisation.

Gobind shared that proposals and feedback have been submitted to KUSKOP concerning the upcoming policy, and plans are underway to advance the discussions. He expressed optimism about concluding the discussions this month, with the aim of finalizing decisions about the policy and subsequent step
s by the end of the year.

The announcement was made during a press conference following the launch of the ‘Impact Study on Artificial Intelligence, Digitalisation, and the Economy on Malaysia’s Workforce’. Human Resources Minister Steven Sim and Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Mustapha Sakmud were present at the event.
