Kuala Lumpur: All parties are urged to stop and always be mindful of making comments or expressing views that may lead to tension and disrupt the harmony of the country’s multi-racial society. Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul emphasized the importance of basing opinions on facts rather than making arbitrary statements that could exacerbate existing tensions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Johari cautioned against actions that could be likened to “pouring oil on the burning fire” and highlighted the potential danger of such behavior. He urged individuals to be fair to themselves and the broader society by ensuring that their facts are correct before expressing opinions.
Dr Johari addressed reporters at the Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (PRESMA) Rice Assistance Programme. The event, which was held for 3,333 asnaf (tithe recipients) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, took place at Maahad Tahfiz Al-Faridiyah in Taman Seri Rampai, Setapak. The event was also attended by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and PRESMA president Datuk Jawahar Ali Taib Khan.
