Dewan Rakyat Sitting To Proceed As Scheduled – Speaker’s Office

Kuala lumpur: The Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, set to commence on June 22, will proceed as planned, as confirmed by the Office of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Speaker's Office has assured that there are no changes to the Dewan Rakyat sitting schedule. The official Parliamentary calendar remains intact, with the meeting scheduled to span 16 days, concluding on July 16.

The first meeting of the current Dewan Rakyat session wrapped up on March 3 after a 20-day session. Recently, speculation had emerged suggesting a potential cancellation of the Dewan Rakyat sitting to accommodate state elections in several states in Peninsular Malaysia.

On Monday, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi declared the dissolution of the 56-seat Johor State Legislative Assembly, effective June 1, setting the stage for the state election to occur within 60 days. Additionally, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced the official dissolution of the 36-seat Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly yesterday, following consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
