Dewan Rakyat Approves Budget 2026 Allocations for Key Ministries


Kuala lumpur: The Dewan Rakyat today passed the allocations for the Supply Bill 2026 at the committee level for the Ministry of National Unity, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities through a voice vote, after witnessing more voice in support than against.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Economy received an allocation of RM2.75 billion for next year, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to driving the national development agenda, especially as 2026 marks the first year of implementation for the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). Finance Minister II, who is also acting Economy Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, stated that the development allocation for the Ministry of Economy amounts to RM2.115 billion. This figure represents an increase of RM890.56 million (72.7 per cent) for 2026 compared to the revised allocation in 2025. This increase is attributed to the completion of several projects that will not continue into 2026.

The Dewan Rakyat also ap
proved a projected operating and development expenditure of RM767.99 million for the Ministry of National Unity. Under Budget 2026, themed Fourth MADANI Budget: The People’s Budget, the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities has been allocated RM810.09 million. Of this amount, RM477.82 million (59 per cent) is designated for operating expenses, while the remaining RM332.27 million (41 per cent) is earmarked for development expenditure.

Earlier, the committee-level debate session involving the three ministries featured speakers from the government, opposition, and independent blocs before the winding-up session by the respective ministers. The Dewan Rakyat sitting will resume tomorrow.
