Dewan Negara Reports on Teachers’ Digital Competency Assessment

Kuala Lumpur: A total of 403,618 teachers have undergone a digital competency assessment by December 31, 2024, the Dewan Negara was informed today. Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh revealed that 23.9 percent of teachers were at the basic level, 74.3 percent at the intermediate level, and 1.8 percent at the advanced level.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wong stated that training on digital education has been continuously provided to teachers. As of December 31, 2024, 1,410 teachers obtained professional certification and are recognized as members of the KPM JAUHARI Expert Team. This information was shared during a question-and-answer session in response to Senator Amir Md Ghazali’s query about the digital competency levels of teachers and the ministry’s initiatives to enhance their digital skills.

Wong also mentioned that strategic partnerships with organizations such as Microsoft, Google, and Apple have been established, focusing on digital expertise and specialized training for teachers.
