Desa Kencana Camp Set for 2028 Completion to House Entire 13th Infantry Brigade

Lahad datu: The construction of the Desa Kencana Camp, slated for completion in 2028, will provide housing for the entire 13th Infantry Brigade of the Malaysian Army, as stated by Brigadier General Datuk Jagjit Singh Indar Singh, the brigade’s commander. He noted that the camp is currently under construction with hopes for completion within the projected timeline.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the new military camp, valued at over RM500 million, is located in Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu. It aims to address the high rental costs faced by brigade members in Tawau and Lahad Datu by accommodating all personnel and their families. Jagjit Singh mentioned that additional group rentals of 120 units have been secured for members in the interim.

Jagjit Singh also assured that the 13th Brigade area, encompassing Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna, Tawau, and Tongod, remains secure. In addition to land security, the brigade is actively participating in Op Murni to assist flood victims within its jurisdiction.

Earlier, Jagjit Singh and his wife, Datin Kiranjeet Kaur Kulwant Singh, participated in early voting at the Gagah Berani Hall located at the 13th Infantry Brigade headquarters, Cenderawasih Camp. This voting process involves 24,426 early voters, including military and police members along with their spouses, ahead of the general polling day set for Nov 29.

Jagjit Singh highlighted that there are five military camps under the 13th Brigade within the state constituencies of Tungku, Segama, Apas, Kukusan, and Sebatik.
