Deputy Minister Urges Collaboration for Motorsports Facilities

Accra:The development of safe and suitable motorsports facilities necessitates a collaborative effort involving state governments, local authorities, sports bodies, and the private sector, according to Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol. This cooperation is essential to ensure the facilities are effectively managed, maintained, and utilized by the local community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mordi emphasized the importance of this collective approach during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat. He suggested that as an initial measure, the Bukit Gantang Parliamentary Office could recommend capable sports associations and propose suitable locations through the Perak State Youth and Sports Department for coordination with the relevant parties.

Mordi's comments were in response to a supplementary question from Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Syed Abdul Fasal (PN-Bukit Gantang) regarding an application to construct a circuit and organize extreme motorsports and e-sports activities in the area.

In another discussion, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Lim Hui Ying addressed the proposal to establish a dedicated department for managing the affairs of the elderly. She stated that there is currently no need for such a department to avoid overlapping functions with existing ones. Lim explained that the ministry is responsible for various target groups, including persons with disabilities, children, women, the elderly, and the homeless, in response to a supplementary question from Dr. Halimah Ali (PN-Kapar) about planning to meet the needs of the elderly population, expected to reach 4.9 million by 2030.
