Demand for KTMB Train Tickets Surges During Deepavali Season

Kuala Lumpur:Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has reported the sale of 100,304 tickets for its Electric Train Service (ETS) and EMUPlus services, covering travel from November 5 to November 10, during the Deepavali period.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KTMB group chief executive officer Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri stated that the high demand indicates a positive public response to rail services during the festive season. He highlighted that the seating capacity offered has increased by 70% compared to the same festive period last year.

The announcement followed an event at KL Sentral where Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri, together with Deputy Minister of National Unity R. Yuneswaran, distributed 600 Deepavali gift packs to ETS passengers. KTMB had previously announced an additional 14,384 seats across its ETS and EMUPlus services to accommodate the increased passenger demand for the festival.

In a separate development, KTMB has opened ticket sales for its ETS and Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT) services for travel between January and February 2027, starting from noon today. For the first quarter of next year, a total of 1.57 million seats are being offered via ETS and ERT services, with 102,819 tickets already sold as of today from the additional capacity made available.

KTMB advises the public to plan their journeys in advance, purchase tickets through official channels, and arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time to ensure a smoother and more comfortable travel experience throughout the festive season.
