Kuala lumpur: A total of 16 specialised AI applications have been integrated into the DELIMa 3.0 platform to automate assignment marking, performance analysis, and the detection of student learning gaps. The Ministry of Education (MOE) said the integration also focuses on automating routine clerical and administrative tasks, thereby easing educators' workloads and freeing up more time for teachers to focus on guiding their students.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the adoption of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini AI, and NotebookLM has been significant, with ChatGPT recording 208,836 uses among teachers, followed by Gemini AI with 175,765 uses, and NotebookLM with 130,099 uses. The data, published in a written Dewan Negara reply on Parliament's website, addressed a query from Senator Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali regarding the ministry's plans to expand AI use ethically while enhancing digital skills for educators and students.
MOE described the July 20 launch of DELIMa 3.0 as more than an upgrade, calling it a transformation into a smarter, more integrated, and user-centric digital education ecosystem. KPM explained that the platform is now further enhanced with DETa (Digital Educational Teaching and Learning Assistant), an AI-powered smart chatbot designed to help teachers and students make the most of official ministry resources.
"Teachers can use DETa to get tailored teaching content suggestions, while students can receive specific answers and recommended learning materials based on their subjects, all sourced from official MOE resources," the ministry said. In addition, DELIMa 3.0 introduces an AI-powered Digital Learning Pathway that recommends personalised learning routes based on each student's performance, interests, and academic needs.
The platform's effectiveness is evident in its active user rates, at 97.73 per cent for teachers and 37.32 per cent for students, recorded between Jan 1 and July 21 this year. MOE stressed that the expansion of AI in education is being carried out in line with the National AI Action Plan, Digital Education Policy, and Malaysia Education Plan 2026-2035, with a clear commitment to keeping it effective, safe, responsible, and ethical.
