Defending National Sovereignty A Shared Responsibility – Mohamed Khaled

Kuala lumpur: The task of defending national sovereignty is a shared responsibility of all citizens and does not rest solely on the security forces.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin emphasized that while citizens do not need to take up arms, they can contribute by instilling patriotism, strengthening unity, supporting the security forces, and avoiding actions that could undermine national sovereignty. He highlighted that this embodies the spirit of Total Defence (HANRUH) and acknowledged the courage and sacrifices of the nation's heroes and warriors, which have laid the foundation for the peace and prosperity enjoyed today.

In a message shared on his official social media page in conjunction with the Warriors' Day 2026 celebration, Mohamed Khaled expressed his appreciation on behalf of the Government, the Defence Ministry, and all Malaysians to the members of the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Royal Malaysia Police, and veterans for their service and sacrifices to the nation.

He noted that July 31 is observed annually to commemorate the services and sacrifices of the nation's warriors who have defended the country's sovereignty and security. He expressed hope that the spirit of heroism displayed by these warriors would continue to resonate within the hearts of every Malaysian, ensuring that the country remains peaceful, sovereign, and prosperous.
