Defence Minister to Address MAF Procurement Issue Amid Investigation

Kuala lumpur: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is set to issue a statement tomorrow regarding the procurement concerns involving the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), as announced by MADANI government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. The development arises as part of discussions during the MADANI 2026 Government Retreat, attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Cabinet ministers, and state government leaders.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded a statement from a senior MAF officer to aid in the investigation into alleged fund misuse within the force. This disclosure aligns with the government's commitment to promptly address and communicate issues to prevent misperceptions among the public.

Fahmi emphasized the importance of timely and accurate dissemination of information by leaders, particularly Cabinet members, to avoid public misunderstandings. He highlighted the lessons learned from previous cases, which underscore the necessity for thorough handling of issues to maintain public trust.

When queried about additional topics covered during the retreat, Fahmi mentioned that no specific issues were explored in depth. Instead, the focus was on strategizing effective measures to tackle existing challenges without delving into detailed discussions on individual problems.
