DBKU to Allow Roadside Stalls with Conditions

Kuching: Traders who have set up stalls in villages or along roadsides will be given the flexibility to operate in the Kuching Utara City Hall (DBKU) area, said its Mayor, Datuk Hilmy Othman. He emphasized the need for traders to maintain cleanliness and ensure that their stalls do not obstruct traffic. Additionally, traders must comply with local authorities if instructed to relocate to a more suitable location.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman stated, “If there are traders who cause traffic obstruction, the DBKU will make sure they cooperate and move to a more suitable location.” He made these remarks during the launch of the Satok Ramadan Bazaar. The Mayor highlighted the importance of cooperation between traders and the DBKU to create a comfortable and orderly atmosphere during the Ramadan period.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, urged traders to maintain food hygiene, practice good food handling, and get vaccinated to ensure customer safety. He also stressed the importance of proper food waste management and advised visitors against blocking traffic, underscoring these measures as essential for the success of the bazaar and its benefits to city residents.

The DBKU announced in a statement that the Satok Ramadan Bazaar, which will remain open until March 30, features 98 stalls offering a variety of dishes and drinks.
