Kuala Lampur:Bank Simpanan Nasional has announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Dr Zukri Samat as its new chairman, effective October 12, 2026. He will be taking over from Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zukri Samat brings a wealth of experience in financial services, Islamic banking, asset management, and public institutions to his new role at BSN.

Zukri's most recent position was as chairman of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia, where he served from November 1, 2023, to October 31, 2025. His extensive career includes significant roles such as a board member of the Inland Revenue Board, group managing director and CEO of Lembaga Tabung Haji, and managing director of Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd.

Additionally, Zukri was the managing director of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd and was instrumental in finance restructuring and recovery efforts during the Asian Financial Crisis.
