Seremban: The Seremban City Council (MBS) will take firm action against Ramadan Aidilfitri bazaar traders at Dataran Senawang who fail to maintain cleanliness, including forfeiting their deposits if their stalls are found to be excessively dirty. Mayor Masri Baharuddin stated that each trader is required to pay a deposit as a guarantee that they will comply with the stipulated conditions, particularly those related to hygiene.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mayor Masri emphasized that if traders leave rubbish at their business sites, the deposit will not be refunded. All traders are aware of this requirement, which is among the mandatory conditions in the agreement to ensure cleanliness around the bazaar area is maintained. He conveyed this information to reporters after inspecting the Ramadan Bazaar at Dataran Senawang.
Masri explained that monitoring is carried out every two hours from 6 pm until 2 am, the closing time for traders, to ensure compliance before cleaning works begin. He noted that inspections have so far found the bazaar's cleanliness to be at a satisfactory level, while reminding traders and visitors that maintaining the city's cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of the local authority but requires cooperation from all parties.
The mayor mentioned that MBS will also work with the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) to ensure compliance with provisions under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007, including offences related to littering in public places.
When asked about traders' feedback on MBS managing the bazaar directly without involving external organisers, Masri reported that most traders had responded positively. He added that MBS would conduct a review session to identify any shortcomings and introduce improvements for future editions of the bazaar.
The Ramadan Bazaar at Dataran Senawang hosts 309 traders and is among the largest Aidilfitri bazaars in Negeri Sembilan, attracting not only local residents but also visitors from other districts and neighbouring states.
