DAP To Contest 17 Seats In Johor Polls

Kuala lumpur: DAP has confirmed that it will field candidates in 17 seats in the upcoming Johor state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke stated that the 17 seats include 10 seats the party won in the previous election, four seats it previously contested but lost, and an additional three new target seats. Loke emphasized that the party intends to defend all the seats it secured in the last election. "We won 10 last election and we contested 14 last election. So, the four that we contested last round will be contested again," he mentioned while speaking at a press conference after launching the DAP 60 Years Journey Documentary in the Federal Territories.

Loke further mentioned that DAP would also defend all 11 of its Negeri Sembilan state seats. He explained that the decision to dissolve the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was made by consensus among the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state leadership. He also addressed claims made by former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli alleging that the dissolution was driven by pressure from DAP, dismissing the allegations as baseless. "It is total nonsense to say that this is a pressure from DAP... All in PH Negeri Sembilan, be it PKR, be it DAP, be it Amanah, are all for a dissolution," Loke clarified.

In addition, Loke reassured that the political dynamics and competition at the state level would not impact working relations or the functioning of the Federal Government, which remains stable and continues to operate normally.
