Customs’ RM65.57 Billion Revenue Collection Proves Effectiveness Of Government Reforms, Says CUEPACS

Kuala Lumpur: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department’s achievement in boosting the nation’s revenue to RM65.57 billion for 2024 is a testament to the successful implementation of government reforms in the tax system. This success also underscores transparent economic management and the effectiveness of strategies put in place to curtail financial leakages.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat has highlighted this accomplishment as a reflection of the government’s commitment to strengthening public administration. He emphasized the enhancement of integrity and professionalism within the civil service as key factors contributing to this achievement.

Datuk Dr Adnan Mat conveyed congratulations to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department for its remarkable performance. He attributed this success to the efficiency and dedication of civil servants in the taxation sector, as well as the effective economic and administrative policies implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In his statement, Adnan also acknowledged the leadership of Customs director-general Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, noting her pivotal role in guiding the department to this exceptional accomplishment. He highlighted her recognition as the recipient of the 2024 CUEPACS Outstanding Woman Award as a testament to her capability and dedication in fostering an efficient and transparent revenue management system.

CUEPACS expressed its support for the government’s initiatives to strengthen the Customs Department through the allocation of human resources and advanced technological tools, such as digitalisation and automation systems. These measures are expected to enhance tax collection efficiency and streamline administrative processes.

In response to the department’s stellar performance, CUEPACS urged the government to continue entrusting civil servants with the national development agenda. Adnan emphasized that the success of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department should serve as an exemplar for other departments, enhancing public service effectiveness and bolstering public confidence in the civil sector’s capacity to manage national resources efficiently and with integrity.

It was previously reported that the Finance Ministry had set a target of RM56 billion in total revenue collection for the Customs Department in 2024, showcasing the department’s capability in exceeding expectations.
