New York City: Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded defeat in the city’s Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday night, paving the way for frontrunner Zohran Mamdani as the likely first Muslim mayor of New York City.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, unofficial results showed Mamdani leading with 43.5 percent of first-round votes, ahead of Cuomo’s 36.38 percent.

The final results will be determined through ranked-choice voting, expected to be announced next Tuesday.
