Culinary Students Need Exposure to Cutting-edge Kitchen Equipment – Chef Rizwan

Melaka: The culinary industry is evolving rapidly with advances in kitchen technology, and exposing students to cutting-edge equipment is becoming essential. Melaka Chefs Association president Chef Rizwandy Perin emphasized the importance of familiarizing culinary students with sophisticated kitchen tools, which are becoming prevalent across hotel kitchens, restaurants, and homes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chef Rizwandy shared his insights at the 2025 Melaka Culinary Challenge held at the Freeport A’Famosa Outlet. He highlighted that competitions like this serve as valuable platforms for student chefs, particularly those in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), to gain hands-on experience with modern kitchen equipment supported by major sponsors.

Rizwandy further commented on the significance of the competition, now in its third year, expressing hope for increased collaboration to ensure its continued success. The event has garnered international recognition, with professional judges from Thailand, Germany, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Italy, and aims to not only introduce aspiring chefs to the industry but also to promote Melaka as a culinary tourism hub.

Looking ahead to the fourth edition of the culinary challenge, Rizwandy revealed a target of over a thousand participants, doubling this year’s attendance. He also emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration with the state government and its agencies, aligning with the government’s goal of producing more TVET graduates.
