Sibu:A 4.15-metre-long crocodile weighing over 400 kilograms was captured in the Rajang River near Stabau-Salim this morning. However, the search continues for a larger crocodile believed to be lurking in the vicinity.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, licensed crocodile hunter Jeferry Siew Seng Kwong and his team of four captured the reptile at approximately 10 am using a baited hook. They had been tracking the crocodile since September.
Jeferry stated that the team's latest success came less than 24 hours after they returned from a crocodile-catching operation in Batang Igan near Ulu Kampung Kebuaw, Igan. Despite their exhaustion from the previous operation, they were able to conduct today's activities in Sibu.
Earlier on September 14, Jeferry's team captured a 4.76-metre crocodile in the Salim-Stabau area. In the past few days, they also caught three crocodiles ranging from 2.44 metres to 4.75 metres in Batang Igan, including a 4.75-metre reptile weighing an estimated 500 kilograms.
During the Igan operation, the team discovered a nest containing about 40 crocodile eggs. Jeferry, who has been licensed for crocodile hunting for two years, has captured over 100 crocodiles to date.
