Pontian: A coal-handling crane at the Tanjung Bin Power Plant near Kukup, Pontian, collapsed today, resulting in the deaths of two workers and injuries to three others.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pontian Baru Fire and Rescue Station chief Mahadir Mamat identified the deceased as Muhammad Alfarid Ahmad, 19, and Muhammad Amaluddin Hisamudin, 22. The incident occurred around 1 pm, and the victims were retrieved from beneath the rubble by approximately 3 pm. Their bodies have been handed over to the police for further action.

The statement also reported that the three injured men were transported to Pontian Hospital for medical treatment. Additionally, the collapse triggered a small fire, which was successfully contained and extinguished with assistance from the Malakoff Emergency Response Team (ERT).
