Court Testimony Reveals Ebit Lew and Staff Used Wife’s Phone Number

Kuala lumpur: Farah Pardani, wife of Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, commonly known as Ebit Lew, revealed in the Magistrate’s Court that her husband and his staff used a mobile phone number registered under her name.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Farah, aged 43, serving as the 16th prosecution witness in the sexual harassment case against Ebit Lew, stated that she had two phone numbers registered in her name. One of these numbers was reportedly used by both her husband and his staff. The mobile phone associated with this number was managed by staff for various tasks including video production, live streaming, and content editing, while Ebit utilized the device for messaging, video creation, and updating materials.

Farah mentioned that Ebit did not possess any other phone numbers apart from the one registered in her name, which ceased to be in use following its confiscation in 2021. She admitted to not disclosing the use of the phone by Ebit’s staff during her police interview due to a lack of understanding of the questions asked.

During the cross-examination by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad, Farah responded with “I do not remember” when questioned about requesting clarification on the police’s questions. The prosecution also challenged her on the consistency of her testimony, pointing out discrepancies with her earlier recorded statement from September 30, 2021.

The legal proceedings are being conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutors Analia Kamaruddin and Muhammad Hidayat Wahab, while Ebit Lew is defended by lawyers Datuk Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki, Timothy Daut, and Prabjit Singh Gill. Ebit Lew, aged 38, is confronting 11 charges, including accusations of defaming the modesty of a woman in her 40s by sending obscene messages and images via WhatsApp between March and June 2021. These charges fall under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which prescribes a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.

The trial, presided over by Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani, is set to continue tomorrow.
