Kuala lumpur: The Sessions Court here today ruled that a female masseuse facing charges of uploading video and photo posts of a fake marriage certificate involving herself and a member of the royal family does not need to undergo another psychiatric evaluation. Judge Suhaila Haron confirmed the psychiatric medical report for Persana Avril Sollunda, 43, from Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, indicated she was fit to stand trial.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the court’s decision was based on the current medical report which was deemed sufficient by deputy public prosecutor Izzat Amir Idham. He rejected the request for another evaluation, stating any issues with medication should be addressed by contacting the hospital directly. The court has set the case mention for October 31, and the trial dates of December 3 to 5 remain unchanged.
Earlier, Persana Avril’s lawyer, Rubhern Raj, argued for another psychiatric evaluation, claiming the existing medication was ineffective and caused problems such as frequent pacing and difficulty in control for their client. However, the court maintained the current findings, with Izzat Amir also noting amendments to the charges, changing “hurting the feelings of others” to “disturbing others.”
Persana Avril stands accused of creating and distributing fake images via a TikTok account, showing a fraudulent marriage certificate between a royal family member and Crown Princess Ratu Shana. The content was accessed by the Cyber Crime and Multimedia Investigation Division at Bukit Aman, leading to charges under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. If found guilty, she faces a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment, a fine of RM500,000, or both, with an additional fine for continued offence post-conviction.
