Kuala lumpur: A husband and wife lost their lives in a tragic accident when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a stationary lorry on the Linkedua Highway (northbound) at Kilometre 0.6. The incident occurred around 9.30 pm on Friday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Iskandar Puteri deputy police chief Supt Saifullah Jaya @ Yahaya reported that the lorry involved in the accident had broken down and was parked in the emergency lane. Initial investigations revealed that the couple, aged 54 and 53, were traveling home to Taman Melawati, Skudai, after a visit to Singapore when their motorcycle hit the rear right side of the lorry.
The collision resulted in the couple suffering severe head injuries and injuries to their left legs. They were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Their bodies were then transported to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Further details from Supt Saifullah indicated that the male victim was employed as an e-hailing driver in Singapore, while his wife worked as a restaurant assistant in the same country.
