Corvette’s Debut at Bathurst 12-Hour Features Elite Driver Line-Up

Johor: Johor Motorsports Racing Team (JMR) has announced a seven-strong squad of drivers to contest next month's Meguiar's Bathurst 12-Hour endurance race, marking Corvette's first-ever outing at the legendary event. This signals a new era for the brand's GT3 campaign.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JMR stated that alongside Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al Haj will be a new Pro team featuring Corvette Racing factory pilots Alexander Sims, Nicky Catsburg, and Earl Bamber.

Tunku Abdul Rahman expressed his enthusiasm for Bathurst, noting its special significance and describing it as one of his favourite tracks worldwide due to its rich history, dedicated fans, and unique racing atmosphere. He has previously raced the 12-Hour three times and emphasized his aspiration to return with JMR's own team. The upcoming event holds particular meaning as he will be racing with his brother and teammates, Jordan Love and Ben Green.

He highlighted the motivation derived from watching the event last year and expressed excitement about returning with a new manufacturer in GM Corvette. He affirmed that significant efforts have been made to reach this moment and expressed pride in JMR's participation with a Pro car at such a notable event. He is looking forward to the challenges and the promising year ahead.

Bathurst has been a favorable venue for Tunku Abdul Rahman, with the team owner and principal achieving three Pro-Am podium results there from 2022 to 2024. For the 2026 race, both JMR teams will drive the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which had successful outings in the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia championship and the Suzuka 1000 endurance race.

The Bathurst 12-Hour will mark only the second time JMR has fielded a Pro-only team. Their debut at September's Suzuka 1000 saw the Pro team achieve a memorable overall podium result.
